"You're not just a pretty face" an #ootd

Denim jacket, Bongo; T-shirt, Universal Studios; Jeans, Zara Basics; Shoes, Nike

Casual pony toss

One thing that I've heard a lot over the past year is the phrase "So, you're not just a pretty face!". There are two ways of taking this and I obviously take it as a compliment seeing as how i'm an optimist. I think it's really easy with compliments like this, to be put of because someone may see you as being not as intelligent for a certain position....but that's all the more reason to show them that you're more then what they know.

Take a look at the old tale about the Scorpion and the frog. It's just humans' nature to make assumptions.

You should probably be somewhere where you want to work hard, work successfully and gain confidence and I think that this saying or phrase (or anything that's said like this) is just a way of showing your smarts and having them recognized.

Not sure if that even made sense.
Late post.
It's great to be working in the showroom again.

A penny (or nickle) for your thoughts?

Eye like to line #punny

Left to right
Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Eye Liner, Eyeko skinny Liquid Eyeliner, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner

Three new liners to add to my collection. I normally use the Annabelle Liquid Felt Tip liner but it just hasn't been fulfilling my needs recently. All three of these liners work differently but equally as good, following?
The Urban Decay one is a liquid liner with a brush tip
The Eyeko Skinny is a felt tip liner, almost like a sharpie
and the Kat Von D is a brush tip liner, that works like a felt tip
All three of these liners are great, and they all - in my opinion work the same
They all have a deep, true black color, they can apply precise thick or thin lines and they all come in great packaging. The removal of all the liners are quite nice with any facial cleanser or makeup remover.

What do you think about these? What are you currently using and how do you think they compare?

"I am kayak, hear me roar" an #ootd

Cardigan, H&M; Tank top, Aritzia; Trousers, Loft; NIKES

On this slightly grey vancity day my beautiful friend shot some photos of me styling my Nike's. I don't exactly know if I like how this looks. I think I do like it, although I wish my socks were white. Anyhow the next couple of outfit posts are featuring these Nike's because I was/am experimenting styling them!

Sorry for the rush post I haven't managed my time properly (bullet journal to begin..future post coming soon) I am quickly typing this with 20% battery left and sleep to catch seeing as I have to wake up tomorrow morning and go to work! Hope you all had a lovely weekend! I know I did :)

ALSO
let me know if any of you got the title reference! I will be thrilled

Terracotta Chili

Annabelle waterproof lip liner in Terracotta
MAC matte lipstick in Chili

Chili used to be a color that I would wear everyday in my first year of uni (2012/13) and since entering the Fashion Design program I feel like I can be a bit more bold with the colors I wish to wear. Since my Summer began I started to wear more nudes (like Verve from MAC and Nudey lip liners) Then recently there were a couple of my all time holy grail lip liners for sale so I couldn't pass it up. One of the two colors I got happened to look very similar to the shade Chili I own by MAC. And so this is the story of how I rediscovered this lipstick and I think the pair together look quite nice.

How do you feel about this bricky shade?

Watch it

Marc by Marc Jacobs Baker 36.5MM
Michael Kors Silver Color Stainless Steel Blair Glitz

The Marc Jacobs one is amazing daytime/night casual watch. It's light, it's soft and you can practically wear it with anything. The Michael Kors one is much heavier, it can make an outfit look more put together, more expensive and more glam. It is pretty heavy, so make sure your wrist can hold it up. It's fabulous and compliments any arm candy that you wish to pair with it. I feel like the Marc Jacobs looks better with out any other jewelry on the wrists but that's just my personal taste.

Are you guys into watches? What's your favorite?

Little Kate has a lovely blog CLICK HERE so check it out. She is just a little trendy fashion chick who has a really cool style that she blogs about.

MAC Spring/Summer Lipstick Pick's

Left to Right
So Chaud-Matte, Relentlessly Red-Retro Matte, LE Daddy's Little Girl-Satin, Candy Yum Yum-Matte

Colors in opposite order from picture above
Mac lipsticks are my favorites. I am currently the most attracted to the Matte formula finishes although Satin's come in a close second. They barely need to be topped up throughout the day and I find that just using a balm on top make it more moisturized if I find it to be too drying on my lips.

These are my top S/S picks that I always wear this time of year. With an addition of a bit of concealer and mascara I'm all set for the day.

What's your MAC summer lip pick?

Leather & Sweater an #ootd

Jacket GUESS?, Sweater New York & High waisted jeans Zara
Lipstick Diva by MAC
This past weekend Sunday started out rainy and grey. I looked in my closet and had a "I don't know what to wear" moment. It's summer after all but it felt like a day in September. I just threw on my favorite pair of jeans a thin sweater and a light jacket (the one i'm wearing is faux and isn't heavy duty) Threw my hair up in a no-fuzz pony and called it a day. Simple but still looking pulled together. You can't really go wrong with throwing a leather jacket and a bold lip on ;)

How was your weekend?

Steps

I've been more confused by this saying now then ever. "Forgive and Forget". I understand the action of forgiveness, but I don't think it's possible to forget. How do you forget memories of once important people or of moments when you were younger that you just wish to never remember. If I could forget the 101 horror embarrassment stories that I've lived, I would be a happy camper..Then again, why would we want to forget?

Don't our memories and experiences make us who we are?

I guess it's the emotions that are coexisting with the memories that make it all that much harder to forget. So lets just forgive and move on. No forgetting, just taking steps forward.
Detox your life.

where am I now an #ootd

Harlowe and Graham Top, Coach bag, XXI sunnies, Boots from Hudson's Bay (don't remember the actual brand)
So while shopping for a few specific things on the weekend I hadn't realized that it's been a long time since I've been to a mall. This is due to the $damage$ I did in New York in May (read about it here). And while shopping, I graced a couple very sweet compliments. The lady at Aldo liked my top, A LOT, the lady at Sephora told me she loved my eyeliner and the woman working the the dugstore told me she liked my bold lip color...Uhm thank you kinda people who still exist in this world <33
It really is about the little things in life.

Anyhow, this is what I wore. How are you all doing?

Shady matter

These sunglesses, were a steal. $6.80 at of course, Forever 21. I seriously just bought them because I was tired of repping my Uni free-bee sunglasses that all my friends made fun of. Now that I think if it, I was being kinda ridiculous to wear them ALL the time. I'm think about buying another pair of sunglasses, maybe a bit more expensive so that I can alternate between a nicer pair, probably more classic looking and these/ which every other cheap trendy ones I find.

As for the summer dress, the dresses at H&M fit me like a dream. There is something about the way it hugs my waist. The length is perfect the cut is perfect and I could probably wear it everyday of the damn week.
Unfortunately I think it's probably going to be my last wear for this one because I want to purchase some new dresses with a little more detail.

What does your summer time go dress look like? And what shades are you rockin?

Where are you going an #ootd

Wilfred Wool Hat, H&M Maxi Dress, XXI boots
I did a little shopping on the weekend because my amazing 2.5 year old Forever 21 booties had completely fallen apart. They were a suede-ish material and were basically the only shoes I used to wear. After coming to the realization that they were completely battered I went to Forever 21 and found these babies. (Post coming soon) Faux leather and heavenly.

This dress is lovely and long and there are 2 slits *oww owwww* ;) its so comfy and effortless and the hat is literally just decoration. I couldn't wear it the whole day because it was so HOT and my head was dying. But it added the extra shade of cool.

What do you think about maxis? Yay or nay?

i'm obsessed..

dumb and ugly t-shirt

oh my god. I literally haven't been this excited about watching YouTube in ages! The goodness that is Chelsea a.k.a. youtube.com/chelseawears is ah-mazing. I remember watching her videos a while back but recently she's been uploading new videos and she has such a great personality and I just can't get enough.
She also has a blog.. www.chelseawears.com and she's kinda lovely on there as well. Are you all on board? I hope so.

Eyebrow Game #strong

Urban Decay Naked Basics : Faint
Urban Decay Naked : Buck
Watts up by Benefit
Angled Brush by elf
Lip brush & eyebrow comb (walmart?)

I usually begin with taking a wet brush (the "lipliner" one with the orange tip) and take the color Faint from the UD Basics to draw an outline of my brow where its needed. Usually this is just the arch. Then I use the elf small angled brush with a mixture of Faint and Buck from the UD Naked 1 and fill in my brows. I comb it all through and Voilà!

I used to use a Maybelline eyebrow pencil to do my brows but for the past 2 or so years I've been using shadows because it looks more soft and natural. I do however want to try the Hourglass waxy/pencil thing. It looks incredible.

How do you like to do your brows?

Things I'm loving

1.Corgi's.
I don't even know what to write because I literally have spent 2 hours just looking at Google images of this damn puppy. My heart is melted.

2. Fruit Prints.
This one I saw on Instagram by NylonGuysMag. And I just adore fruit! go fruit! Fruit over Veg any day.

3. Neon flower prints.
CuriouserLia is a BABE. I've been following her fashion and style for maybe 4 years now?! I'm obsessed and she is the definition of style.

4. Town
Making plans and actually sticking to them because you know it'll be good. Yes.

there once was a shirt dress an #ootd

Kate Spade Stacy Cherry Lane Wallet
Lotus Ring & others
XXI Lipstick
Marc by Marc Jacobs Baker 36.5 MM
XXI Sunglasses
ASOS Shirt Dress, XXI booties
I found this ASOS shirt dress at Beacon's Closet in New York (an amazing designer-esque, discount thrift store). I bought it for a couple different reasons, uno being that I loved the color and deux being I've never owned anything from ASOS. But I must say, without high heeled shoes this outfit looks very incomplete. The size is in a small but it kinda fits strange. I was impulsive when I bought it that's for sure. As I was saying, with some booties this dress/thing looks great. It was somewhere between 18 and 21 dollars and I just didn't want to pass it up.

I'm actually tossing these shoes out at the end of summer because they are SO scuffed. Really, I could write a tragedy on how much these shoes were my night and day. I basically out wore them in 2 years, and i'm not much of a shoe lady, but I think 2 years for a pair of XXI shoes is pretty damn good. XXI booties are always comfy and the perfect height. I've owned a couple pairs before this one and they have all lasted a great amount of time. These boots were all that I wore, I need to expand my horizons this year. Maybe even invest!

Any brands you recommend for good boots like these that are going to last a while?

Carried away..

Lately I've been thinking a lot about independence. Why is it that there is a larger sense of accomplishment when we do things ourselves? Are we really proud of what we've accomplished or are we mostly happy we did it ourselves?

I think for the most part, I've been trying to figure it all out myself and I think I've done pretty rad job- if I do say so myself. I think we all need to take a little more pride in the fact that, in the end of the day we are all a single person with our own thoughts and opinions and if you're reading this you just made it through to another day.

You can't have someone else's gut feeling.

Sometimes, nobody is going to understand your emotions but as long as you are leader of your life, you have the ability to decide how you want your life to turn out.
You go glen coco.

Blot Away

While seeing my friend on Canada Day, we also have another tradition that I failed to mention.

She is a HUGE beauty lover and she usually gets samples but she doesn't necessarily like them all so she collects them and gifts them to me. Like a mid year present, I am truly excited about the most minuscule things in life, seriously.

In the little goodie package that she gave to me she included these blotting sheets. I never get oily enough to use these but it is summer, and sometimes you get a little sweaty Betty. Never thought I would be a blotter but these are actually really cool! They are "Japanese Blotting Papers" and they are infused with Gold Flex

That's right people. Your face is making contact with little pieces of gold. It's quite lux if I do say so myself.
